Full Job Description

Permanent, Full Time or Part Time (Job Share considered) This is an opportunity to join a school where staff and students love learning and working together. We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team and help us to shape the future of this successful and happy school community. Our leadership team endeavours to focus on holistic wellbeing as a priority, inspiring a culture of inclusiveness, emotional intelligence and safety. We want staff to feel valued, supported and challenged, to be creative and ambitious in their contribution to our learning community. Beaconsfield High School wishes to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Deputy Headteacher, someone who has a track record of positive impact on the people and systems around them. Due to flexibility within the current leadership team, we can offer this role to candidates who can bring a range of skills and senior leadership experience rather than requiring the successful candidate to take on a particular remit, such as pastoral or curriculum leadership. The exact nature of the role and responsibilities will be confirmed with the successful candidate, according to their interests, experience and expertise, and how these complement the existing leadership team. You will play a key role in the leadership of our remarkable school, which prides itself as much on being happy as being successful. We can boast wonderful students with a thirst for learning and a desire to embrace the wider opportunities available to them at school. We achieve exceptional academic results each year. In the most recent ranking in The Times' best secondary and grammar schools in the southeast, we placed 7th. Our staff are collaborative and support each other to be their best; it is difficult to say whether the best thing about working here is the students or the staff! The successful candidate will:

  • Be a graduate with qualified teacher status.
  • Have held a leadership role and supported whole school improvement.
  • Combine resilience and determination with an ability to inspire, innovate and motivate colleagues and students.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and be committed to compassionate and effective line management at all levels.
  • Work closely with the SLT to continue to develop this remarkable school.
  • Have the ability to teach excellent lessons consistently.
  • Why work with us at Beaconsfield High School?
  • We are a genuinely happy learning community.
  • We operate on a culture of professional trust.
  • Our students are engaged, self-motivated, and enjoy their lessons.
  • We are supportive of flexible working and proactively seek to make workloads manageable for our staff e.g. off-site PPA and enhanced PPA, flexible meeting times.
  • Longer school holidays (due to our academy status).
  • The school is located in beautiful Beaconsfield Old Town, within The Chilterns (designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
  • Deputy Headteacher
  • We benefit from London Fringe Allowance and the Teachers' Pension Scheme.
  • We have a team of specialist and committed teachers and a highly effective SEND team.
  • We are a welcoming and supportive staff team who enjoy social occasions together like cakes at break time and end of year social events.
  • Employee assistance programme.
  • We are never complacent, and committed to continually improving.
  • We are committed to the induction and professional development of all staff, and have a genuinely developmental Professional Development Process (appraisal).
  • For additional information, or if you would like to visit our remarkable school before the deadline, please contact Sarah Rivers, HR and Recruitment Officer, via email recruitment@beaconsfieldhigh.school . Please do not worry if you are unable to visit as this will not form part of the recruitment process. What do to next:
  • Complete an application form.
  • Your covering letter/support of application statement should explain, in no more than two A4 sides, how your experience to date has prepared you for this role.
  • Please send your application form via email to recruitment@beaconsfieldhigh.school
  • Closing date for applications: 8am, Tuesday 19 November 2024. Interviews will take place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November 2024. Beaconsfield High School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all of its students and staff. The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Beaconsfield High School is an equal opportunity employer, committed to an inclusive environment for all employees and does not discriminate based on race, colour, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability or any other status protected by law. We hold equity, diversity and inclusion as a core value and we encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
