Full Job Description

As the Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our nursery. Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you'll help lead a dynamic team and ensure we provide a stimulating, safe, and caring environment for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Your key responsibilities will include managing the nursery in the Manager's absence, leading and inspiring staff, overseeing planning and assessment, and ensuring that high standards of childcare are always maintained.,

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery. This includes managing staff, assigning duties, and maintaining positive team morale.
  • Ensuring that the nursery meets all EYFS requirements, with an emphasis on the individual needs of each child and maintaining a high-quality learning environment.
  • Ensuring that all safeguarding policies and procedures are strictly adhered to, and that the nursery complies with OFSTED standards.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with parents, keeping them informed of their child's progress and development.
  • Assisting in training, mentoring, and supporting the nursery team to ensure professional growth and high standards of childcare.
  • Helping manage rotas, other administrative duties alongside the Manager, ensuring the nursery operates efficiently.
  • Ensuring the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors, conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

    Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Qualification in Special Educational Needs. or equivalent
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Designated Safeguarding Officer Certificate
  • SENDco qualification
  • Experience and Knowledge
  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience in working in a preschool nursery setting, in a management role
  • Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted Statutory guidance
  • Have experienced an Ofsted inspection.
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Ability to co-ordinate in a specific specialist areas such as Special Education Needs & Disability, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Risk Assessment

  • The salary range for this role is £16,000 to £17,500 per annum based on a 30 hour working week. About the Organisation Bear Hugs Nursery is located at Addlestone Methodist Church Hall.
