The post holder will be a highly visible and family focused support to the Named Midwife for Safeguarding. The post holder will develop a sound understanding of issues relating to safeguarding within Maternity and seek to gain expert knowledge around the statutory requirements within the Law.
They will support the Named Midwife to manage and coordinates the safeguarding activities of midwives and other members of the multidisciplinary team in all areas of the maternity services, providing support and expert clinical advice., The post holder will act as support and deputy to the Named Midwife within the Trust for Safeguarding Children, working collaboratively to ensure delivery of all relevant safeguarding children strategies and policies.
To act as operational support for the Named Midwife, supporting service users and staff in both the hospital and community setting.
Work with all maternity staff to equip them to care for vulnerable women and families and drive improvements in outcomes for the safety and wellbeing of babies, children and young people.
The post holder will provide midwifery expertise and expert knowledge in safeguarding and child protection throughout the pregnancy pathway, ensuring safe, effective, evidence-based clinical practice in accordance with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance and the Trusts guidelines and policies.
The post holder will actively participate in the education, training and dissemination of professional and clinical knowledge relating to Safeguarding to colleagues, student midwives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team acting as an effective role model.
