Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a driven, enthusiastic individual to join the Kiddies Playhouse, The Chuckery team as a Deputy Nursery Manager. You will be an integral member of the management team, supporting the Nursery Manager and assisting with the day-to-day management of the nursery.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, good leadership skills and managerial experience ideally in early childhood education. Roles and Responsibilities

  • To assist the Nursery Manager is managing the nursery, including staff, children, and facilities, including motivating and leading our amazing staff team and being a credible role model to them.

  • To assist the Nursery Manager in developing and implement childcare programs that promote learning and development

  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff, including welcoming new starters, leading show arounds and dealing with parent queries/ concerns to enable positive parent/carer relationships

  • To assist the Nursery manager in office based duties including onboarding, registration, waiting lists, risk assessments, supervisions and organising staff rotas. This includes completing weekly rotas and ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with OFSTED ratio guidelines.

  • Make day-to-day managerial decisions in the absence of the Nursery Manager

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, polices and procedures- including OFSTED requirements, follow the EYFS guidelines, and safeguarding policies and procedures

  • Drive continuous improvement in nursery operations

    Experience in deputy management of a nursery or childcare setting is desirable- ideally minimum 2 years experience

  • Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent, or above

  • Extensive knowledge base of Safeguarding

  • In depth knowledge of the EYFS

  • Knowledge of OFSTED requirements

  • DBS certificate/ clean criminal record

  • Paediatric first aid certificate

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Proficiency in English

  • Ability to drive positive outcomes for children, Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)


  • Experience:
  • Nursery: 3 years (preferred)

  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred)


  • Licence/Certification:
  • DBS certificate (preferred)

  • Food certificate (preferred)

  • Paediatric First Aid Certification (preferred)

    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


  • Pay: From £12.00 per hour

    Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
