Full Job Description

Leicester College has two Day Nurseries offering a total of 83 places which provide high quality and inclusive integrated care and education to the children of students and employees of the College. This position will be based across both our Abbey Park and Freemen's Park Campuses. The position is full time but a job share would be considered for this role.

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to assist the Nursery Manager in the efficient management of the nurseries and ensure a safe, caring and stimulating environment.

As a Deputy Nursery Manager you will work alongside the Nursery Manager to ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will be a role model and promote the setting's philosophy and ethos, showing empathy, tolerance and kindness. You will mentor and guide staff to support an environment for child-led, play-based learning.

You must have high in-depth knowledge of the Ofsted requirements and relevant policies and procedures in a nursery setting. It is essential for you to have awareness of issues relating to Child Protection, Safeguarding, the General Data Protection Regulation and the Prevent Duty.

You will undertake an active role in the day to day care and education of the children and support nursery practitioners in completing observations, assessments and planning for children's progress, working in partnership with parents/carers in supporting their children's development, including overseeing planning and record keeping.

You will be a good communicator who is highly motivated and enthusiastic and be able to promote positive relationships with colleagues both internal and external. You will have previous supervisory experience in a similar setting and be able to carry out appraisals and supervisions of staff in their development.

You will be proficient and experienced in computer skills and have the ability to use early years online learning journals.

You will take charge of the day to day operations of the Nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager/Early Years Manager.

You must hold the following qualifications:

NNEB or BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing or NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or equivalent

Level 2 minimum in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent)

An Early Years Professional Status would be desirable.
