WHAT TO EXPECT

Come and join JLR as a Deputy Occupational Health Advisor, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Health and Safety team.

You will play a proactive role in sickness absence case management, health surveillance and fitness for work, and health and wellbeing project involvement.

As a Deputy Occupational Health Advisor, you will be responsible for providing advice and support to a wide range of customers within the business. Working closely with both the in-house occupational health teams and a third-party provider, the role will enable you to make a positive impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of employees.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Senior Workplace Health Advisor to support with delivery of the occupational health service and management of the department

  • To carry out pre-placement medical assessments where there may be concerns about an individual's medical suitability for a particular post or where reasonable adjustments may be required to enable the company to fulfil its duties under the disability provisions of the Equality Act

  • To carry medical assessments for employees who are absent from work following illness or injury to determine their fitness to return to work and advise on the nature of any recovery programme required to aid their rehabilitation and recovery

  • To conduct assessments where indicated to meet health surveillance statutory requirements to identify cases of occupational deafness, occupational dermatitis, occupational asthma and hand-arm vibration syndrome. Advice following assessments will be provided to management and supervision and where appropriate the case escalated to the SWHA or consultant occupational physician to assess and liaise with an individuals doctors and specialists, including the requesting medical reports where necessary

  • Where necessary visit workplaces to assess the nature and type of work that is being undertaken to help provide accurate and relevant advice on fitness for work or the nature of work-related problems

    Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration

  • A valid Driving Licence

  • Occupational Health and case management experience

  • Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, observe confidentiality and comply with the NMC principles

  • Health surveillance: respiratory, skin, audiometry & HAVS
