Full Job Description
We are looking for a substantially experienced Class 3 specialist Registered Building Inspector, to be our Principal Building Control Surveyor, being the the lead Surveyor on all High Risk Building projects within the borough. Liaising with the the Building Safety Regulator as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team. To undertake specialist or technical assessments/activities on all levels of projects and make decisions on those assessments, using skills that would have been gained through qualifications and practical experience, to effectively deliver the Building Control function. Assessing dangerous structures and implementing immediate remedial works and being part of an out of hours Dangerous Structure Rota - Out of hours payments is currently under discussion and will hopefully be implemented shortly. To be able to effectively manage and evaluate a caseload of a full range of developments with specific focus on more complex schemes and premises including those in scope with the building safety regulator, examining plans and carrying out site inspections, initiating and dealing with enforcement action. There will be opportunities to work alongside the Head of Building Control in respect of Safety at Sportsgrounds undertakings. - Class 3 Registered Building Inspector.
- Relevant Professional status and experience (i.e Chartered Surveyor, Incorporated Engineer, Building Engineer, Fire Engineer, Structural Engineer - (Other relevant qualifications considered).
- Degree level or Level 6 Qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience on High Risk Buildings and Dangerous Structure processes.
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft software.
- This is a role that requires walking on potentially uneven building sites and will require climbing ladders and stairs. There will be times when entering high reach Aerial appliances will be necessary., Satisfactory employment references (previous 10 years)
- Satisfactory declaration of interest;
- Continued professional body registration;
