These units are designed to enhance patient care and streamline emergency services. Their function is to provide quick, efficient and effective care to patients in urgent need of medical attention.
Same Day Emergency Care: Our SDEC allows patients to be assessed, diagnosed and treated all within the same day, minimizing hospital admissions and ensuring fast, high quality care.
Acute Assessment Unit: currently known as the Emergency Floor, the AAU offers an immediate and thorough evaluation of acutely ill patients, allowing us to quickly identify needs and create an individual plan of care.

Are you currently a Band 6 nurse with urgent and emergency experience looking to work in a different and dynamic environment?
Exciting opportunity to join our senior nursing team within the SDEC and AAU.
The SDEC will have 16 care spaces and a large airy waiting area. We will provide same day emergency care between the hours of 07:00 - 22:00 seven days a week.
We are able to offer in-house training and external courses to our nurses, supported by our practice development team and the introduction of the Acute Nursing Competency Framework.
As well as working as a clinically in our SDEC and AAU, our senior nurses co-ordinate patient flow and manage patient safety alongside displaying compassionate and inclusive leadership skills.

We are team orientated and are skilled in working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams., A Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse in SDEC and AAU plays a vital role in supporting the unit's leadership and ensuring high standards of patient care. Here's a detailed overview of the responsibilities and expectations for this position, 1. Clinical Leadership:
o Assist the Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of the unit, ensuring effective delivery of care.
o Oversee clinical practice within the unit, supporting nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
2. Patient Care Management:
o Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
o Ensure timely and appropriate interventions for patients, particularly in emergency situations.
3. Team Coordination:
o Facilitate effective communication within the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
o Support and mentor junior staff, including nurses and healthcare assistants, fostering a positive learning environment.
4. Operational Responsibilities:
o Assist in the management of daily operational activities, including patient flow and resource allocation.
o Participate in the development and implementation of policies and protocols to improve service delivery.
5. Quality Assurance:
o Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
o Monitor and evaluate clinical practices, addressing any issues that arise., o Lead training sessions as necessary to promote best practices within the unit.
