Full Job Description

Are you a Band 5 or 6 Paediatric Nurse looking for a new and exciting challenge? Why not join our friendly team in the Children's Assessment Unit. We care for children and young people with a variety of presentations from respiratory distress to appendicitis and work closely with our colleagues in the Children's Emergency Department and the inpatient paediatric ward to ensure our patients get the best care. The Children's Assessment Unit has 22 beds, including side rooms and an enhanced care bay and operates 24 hours a day around the year. We care for children who are acutely unwell, and our aim is to assess and plan effective care interventions to support their recovery. We cross work between departments when necessary to improve our skills and form part of the larger Jenny Lind Children's Hospital team., As a band 6 you will be coordinating shifts and ensuring that patient care is of the highest standard and the clinical environment is welcoming and meets all set targets for cleanliness and safety. You will be responsible for a small team of staff, managing their appraisals and mandatory training. You will also be involved in teaching on our comprehensive teaching program which is being established by our team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
