Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neonatal Service for an experienced Clinical Educator/Deputy Ward Sister with extensive mentorship experience and a proven track record in staff education and development. In this role, you will further enhance your teaching and mentorship abilities both in the clinical setting and the classroom, playing a key role in inducting nursing and midwifery students, as well as new staff nurses, into medical and surgical neonatal nursing.
As part of our practice development team, you will facilitate study days, create learning packages, implement clinical practice changes, and gain valuable audit experience. Additionally, you will support junior team members in acquiring these skills. You will also deputise for the Practice Development Nurse as needed, representing the team at Trust and Service meetings, and assisting in the preparation of data to demonstrate staff training and development.
50% of your role will be non-clinical, dedicated to supporting these activities. You will also continue to develop your team management skills as Nurse in Charge within our regional surgical neonatal service, regularly taking charge., In addition to the below summary you need to familiarize yourself with full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert, A proactive role model who leads in the clinical environment on the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence in the ward /department.
Responsible for the continued development of evidence-based nursing practice across the Neonatal Service.
A clinically credible practitioner, the post holder will utilise their clinical experience and related skills to provide support for all staff and demonstrate a commitment to the development and advancement of neonatal practice.
The post holder will work at least 50% within the clinical setting, supporting learning within the unit and establishing change in practice as well as working alongside team members to support individual development.
A dedicated 50% of time will be focused on developing clinical practice using educational tools and techniques, establishing guidance, education resources and aids, out of the clinical area.
Supports and deputises for the ward sister, taking managerial, clinical, and professional responsibility for a team of nurses
Supports staff, ensuring the provision of high quality patient care in the most efficient and safe manner in accordance with Directorate and hospital policies and procedures.

You are a role model and ambassador for high standards of clinical practice and professional behaviour. You'll need to be able to take the lead and act on your own initiative, to assess and plan how to meet goals and objectives for yourself, learners, members of the practice development team and the neonatal service. You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with families and within the multidisciplinary team, both verbally and in writing. You will be able to give constructive feedback to all multidisciplinary team members to effect ongoing and continuous improvement in patient safety and the quality of patient care and support junior members of the practice development team to develop these skills themselves.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

+ Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay).
