Full Job Description

Deputy Stage Manager (CABARET at The Kit Kat Club)

An exciting opportunity to join the backstage team on the smash-hit production of CABARET at THE KIT KAT CLUB in London's West End, directed by Rebecca Frecknall and designed by Tom Scutt.

Start Date: October 2024

Role: Deputy Stage Manager

Contract Type: SOLT/Equity Agreement.

Weekly Fee: In line with SOLT/Equity Agreement

Job Description: Reporting to the Company Manager & Stage Manager. The stage management team oversee all aspects of the physical production of CABARET both in performance, rehearsal and ongoing maintenance and repair. The team looks after the movement of props, furniture and actors on and off the stage to ensure a smooth running of performances. The ability to work as part of a team is vital in this role, as well as the ability to communicate well and bring a positive attitude into our workplace. At least three years' experience as a DSM or showcaller is essential. The DSM will be expected to teach and note a team of ASM book covers, and cover the Stage Manager.

Due to the nature of this production, the DSM will also need to have knowledge of the Prologue performance which takes place ahead of the scripted show with a separate cast. Working the Prologue involves - audience management alongside the FOH team, the movement of props, and cast welfare in conjunction with the Company and Stage Manager. This takes place as a separate shift to that of the Cabaret performance.

The stage management team liaise directly with all departments on stage (cast, lighting, sound, automation, wardrobe & WHAM) as well as supporting the creative team to realise the artistic vision of the production.

Our team is committed to improving employment opportunities for those currently under-represented in the theatre industry, so we particularly welcome applications from those with protected characteristics.

To apply: Please follow the below link to the ATG recruitment portal. If you have one, please include a CV. If not, don't worry - please tell us a bit about your background and what you could bring to CABARET in the "About Yourself" section.

Deadline: Please get in touch no later than 8 September 2024.
