Full Job Description

The Deputy Team Manager position is an opportunity for Social Workers / Occupational Therapists with a passion for development, to specialise in a career in social care management. Committed to improving the quality of delivery, this role will support the Team Manager to achieve positive change. The post will sit in the Epping LBC Integrated Neighbourhood team which is a busy and long established team working with adults 18 + living with learning disabilities and autism / physical disabilities and sensory impairment / old age frailty. You will be focussed on allocating cases to social workers and community support workers and will also be responsible for deputising for the Team manager, attending various meetings and sharing responsibility in managing the performance of the Team. You will also be expected to supervise some of the workers in the team and will need to be very robust with managing information and statistical information. The Role As a Deputy Team Manager, you will be supporting the development of practice, skills and knowledge with the Social Workers and Community Support Workers within the team. In addition, you will represent the team in a range of meetings both internal and with our partner agencies. You will be working in collaboration with health care professionals and care providers using a multi - disciplinary approach to ensure the adults receive the right support at the right time. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership and support across a team of professionals to deliver a high-quality service with positive outcomes which enables people to live healthily and independently.
  • Supporting the development of individuals with the team.
  • Delivering expertise and professional knowledge to provide advice and guidance for complex cases in line with legislative and organisational standards.
  • Providing an escalation point for complaints and other feedback from service users in accordance with policy, in a way that fosters positive relationships.
  • Implementing effective approaches to integrated working with partners, communities and the voluntary sector to achieve successful outcomes for service users.

    You'll bring strong leadership and behavioural skills, giving you the ability to develop a highly motivated, high-performing professional team to deliver the best solutions for those using our services. We're also looking for your experience of working in a social care setting, along with the ability to deal with challenging social situations and develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable adults., Evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
  • An in-depth understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
  • Experience of leading change in a complex environment, and ensuring the organisation delivers best practice within financial constraints.
  • The ability to make clear decisions, to highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist role
  • Practice Educator, AMHP or BIA qualified or working towards these
  • This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
