Full Job Description

This post will work in collaboration with, and autonomously, as part of the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team to help develop and deliver acute services across organisational, professional and geographical boundaries. The post will involve working with the Uro - Oncology Cancer CNS(s). This role will work closely with key areas of the Trust, forging close working relationships with the Trust interventional consultants, visiting consultants from the Cancer Centre's, the Medical and Cancer Teams and the Specialist Palliative Care team.
It is essential that you possess a high level of up-to-date relevant clinical knowledge and experience in caring for cancer patients. With evidence of ongoing continuous professional development. You must be highly motivated with strong leadership and excellent communication skills.
Working with the Cancer Management Team, Cancer Multidisciplinary Teams and Clinical Nurse Specialists this post will be responsible for the implementation and assessment of the service against the NHSI quality measures., · The post-holder will provide a comprehensive quality service for the management of patients who attend for Uro - oncology assessment and as an inpatient. Providing support for their carers/family. Making contact with patients to provide practical, psychological and emotional support.
· To provide expert communication with patients in ways which empower them to make informed choices about their health and healthcare, providing practical information on all aspects of treatment.
· To work in collaboration with the senior Uro - oncology clinical nurse specialist, lead clinician and the Multidisciplinary Team on the Isle of Wight and Mainland, to provide a high quality co-ordinated service between all disciplines. Encompassing a multi-disciplinary approach to care.
· To act as a resource in providing evidence based advice and information to promote the health and well-being of patients with cancer, and offer clinical expertise in treatments/therapies for patients. In order to optimise positive health outcomes and quality of life.
· To provide professional innovation within the specialty, and contribute to the development of cancer services throughout the Trust as a core member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
· To provide clinical nursing leadership and act as a specialist resource for nurses, doctors and others in the Uro - trust and community services within the specialty.
· Take part in the development and implementation of clinical audit and research projects in specialist areas, ensuring that the findings are disseminated and good practice is shared across the trust and beyond, in accordance with Trust governance and clinical guidelines.
· To assist with assessment and incorporate skill such as cannulation, peripheral line management and phlebotomy
To provide intravesical chemotherapy
