Full Job Description
We are recruiting for a Deputy Ward Manager to join us on a full-time basis at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury overseeing the Opal ward. This is a 20-bed inpatient ward for those who have enduring mental illnesses, often with co-morbidities, which require rehabilitation, acquisition and maintenance of everyday life skills to promote recovery and social inclusion. You will become part of a dynamic team for patients requiring assessment, care and nursing interventions within an environment which is relaxed and high in engagement. By adopting a QI methodology, you and the team will bring new and innovative ideas to this very special area of care. Main duties of the job Lead a team of nurses and support workers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to a group of patients. You will also act as a named nurse' or a specific group of inpatients on the ward and take responsibility for their individual nursing care needs. Support the ward manager in delivering the units objectives in terms of patient care, staff development and service development. You will be responsible for clinical leadership of the ward environment, working in a way that promotes the principles of recovery, to ensure individualised, safe and effective care provision for all patients.
- In the absence of the ward manager, you will also take the necessary managerial action to ensure compliance with organisational and stakeholder requirements.
- Undertake personal development and participate in staff appraisal and clinical supervision.
- Articulate a clear vision of the standards expected within your team and actively contribute to a positive learning environment providing supervision and mentorship to qualified and unqualified staff including students and will be responsible for ensuring that nursing is practiced within the Clinical Governance Framework, creating an environment in which excellence in care flourishes through effective leadership and staff management / development., Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
