Full Job Description

If you are successful in your application you will be working alongside our MDT, formulating treatment plans, as well as conducting daily risk and mental state assessments of patients with a variety of different mental health diagnoses. You will be taking the lead on admissions and discharges of patients liaising with community mental health services, families and carers, and other third parties. The successful candidate should have the ability to:

  • Develop competences and expertise in both self and others in order to gain a satisfactory standard and deliver results within agreed timescales.
  • Develop a team atmosphere through hard work, calmness, tolerance and consistency, attempting to fulfil work projects with honesty and integrity.
  • Be persistent in problem solving, seeking solutions through the expertise of both self and others, researching the facts with care and resolving problems in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Remain self-controlled and be prepared to listen to what others say and feel, deal with conflict in an accommodating manner and use practicality as a method for reaching a solution.
  • Provide optimum levels of leadership, if required, encouragement, training and support.
  • Mentor, counsel, coach and generally support those who are not confident in their area of competence, building morale and personal esteem and generally encouraging others to give their best performance.

    We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic band 5, or an experienced Band 6 nurse looking to gain further skills in acute care, to join our well established nursing team.
  • You will have a role in working collaboratively with service users and families and enhancing your skills within the acute care setting. We are a team of dedicated mental health professionals compromised of Mental Health Nurses, Health Care Assistants, an Occupational Therapist and an Activity Co-ordinator as well as Psychiatrists. The team has an amazing culture of supporting new and existing staff, seeking to establish in them a solid foundation of knowledge of the treatment and management of acute mental health illness; as well as an understanding of what is required to fulfil this role safely. Support through supervision is paramount to the ethos of the team, this occurs both formally and informally. Our team is dynamic and rolls with adversity, if you are able to think abstractly, problem solve effectively and manage your time appropriately you would be a welcome addition to our team.
