Full Job Description

Aspinal of London are looking for a Design Assistant to support the Design Manager/Design Team, Product Director, Creative Director in all administrative duties at our Head Office in West Sussex. From concept images to the seasonal sign-off documents, to ensure that the Creative and Development process is supported to deliver on time delivery. This role supports the Weekly Design Pipeline meetings in all administrative duties. This position works with key stakeholders such as Design, Supply base and Product Development. This role is based at our Head Office at least 4 days per week Accountable for:

  • Supporting Design Manager in delivering the Design brief and Brand essence of the collection, ensuring all commercial elements are met within the range plan.
  • Supporting Design Manager and Product Director in delivering Season Sign Off Meetings - including preparation of documents, setting up showroom, keeping showroom area tidy and organised, moving samples when needed.
  • Supporting Supply Director to set up market research events, putting together surveys and correlating results.
  • Ensuring Design Studio is kept organised and tidy.
  • Raising design purchase orders for approval by Design Manager.
  • Seasonal
  • Supporting the delivery of Concept Boards as instructed by the Design Manager, keeping documents up to date.
  • Attend Initial Concept meetings and follow up with the Design Manager to ensure all comments are actioned.
  • Assisting Design Manager in creating cads for new designs, amending cads and ensuring all cads are accurate.
  • Assisting in creation of design specs/CADs & Specs for new products.
  • Responsible for formulating range plan visuals/renders and organising of seasonal and overviews.
  • Assisting where needed in putting prototype's into work.
  • Support Design Manager and PD team in critiquing product and amending tech packs where necessary.
  • Work closely with the Retail & Wholesale teams to understand customer feedback and how this can be factored into new developments.
  • Creation of market trends, raw material research and competitor analysis documents.
  • Explore sustainable angles for every new seasonal product.
  • Continuity
  • Ensuring every Continuity product has accurate to scale CAD's
  • Researching a proposing Continuity product updates.
  • Meeting Preparation and Participation
  • Supporting in the creation/organisation of the room for weekly pipeline meetings. Ensuring all samples are on display and labelled.
  • Ensuring agenda is completed, and no points missed.
  • Managing all samples that are in the design remit and ensure don't leave the building.
  • Sample Management
  • Managing the coordination of samples between Design and PD.
  • Manage the new sample purchases and return, if possible, within 28 days.
  • Manage the Design Archive ensuring all samples are kept organised and labelled, auditing design sample archive periodically.
  • Manage any new samples handed from PD ensuring they are organised and able to be located., To perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Develop yourself and maintain knowledge in your relevant field at all times

    Design Qualifications.
  • 6-12 months industry experience.
  • Awareness of competitor activity.
  • High Competency in Adobe Suite. Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign.
  • Competency in Excel.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Able to conduct supplier meetings.
  • Personal time management and prioritisation.
  • Strong communication skills with Aspinal team departments as well as suppliers.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic.
