What you'll be doing The Design and Construction Manager will lead the engineering and construction operational teams in the co-ordination of the pre-construction and construction phases across the Southampton Highways Services Partnership. Through the management of the contract's governance cycle, you will ensure that projects are successfully delivered to specification, budget/cost and time and act as a lead in our Zero Harm vision. Maintaining a positive client relationship is an essential requirement of this role.
- Develop strategies to meet customer needs and aspirations and efficiently deliver planned works schemes across Southampton.
- Ensure that processes and plans are developed and implemented to ensure that all service agreements with the client and key performance indicators are fully achieved.
- Ensure that sufficient resources are secured to meet the needs of the Programme to deliver business effectively.
- Continuously review resources and costs to ensure contract is providing value for money for client and adjust resource levels accordingly.
- Monitor, plan and control financial expenditure such that financial targets for profit and margin are fully met.
- Develop and manage strategic links and relationships with customers and other key stakeholders in order to identify new business opportunities and to fully understand their requirements & resolve issues and problems in a timely manner.

- A person who is accustomed to working with senior management.
- A person able to work on their own initiative and be able to schedule workload to meet priorities.
- Ideally an experienced professional with extensive knowledge of highways management and operations. Skills:
- A full driving licence is essential.
- PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel.
