Full Job Description

As a Design Engineer Graduate, you'll become a valued member of our ePowertrain team, responsible for the development of Hybrid and Electric Propulsion Systems. This includes key High Voltage (HV) vehicle system components such as Battery Packs, eMotors, Inverters, Transmissions, DCDC converters, and on-board chargers. Your role will involve progressing through and completing the AML Graduate Scheme with the aim of becoming an integral member of the Design Engineering team within ePowertrain. Main duties:

  • Be inquisitive about all things ePowertrain, from motors to inverters, batteries to gearboxes.
  • Confidently challenge engineering decisions with data.
  • Work cross-functionally with other R&D and supporting business functions.
  • Acquire and evaluate competitor benchmark information.
  • Support the delivery of ePowertrain designed commodities with the Design Engineering team.

  • You'll need to:
  • Have good experience with CAD (NX preferred) in designing components from blank sheet through to manufacture and test.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of different Hybrid & EV powertrain architectures.
  • Understand ePowertrain systems and their key components and functions.
  • Be a strong team player with a very flexible 'can do' attitude.
  • Preferred experience:
  • Responsibility in Formula Student/SAE team or similar.
  • Understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different ePowertrain layouts.
  • Understanding of hybrid and electric powertrain system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system, and component levels.
  • Use of test equipment to support mechanical system testing.
  • Knowledge of vehicle legislation and certification requirements for automotive systems.
  • Experience in resolving product development issues within a team environment.
