Join us as a Design Manager

  • We’ll look to you to lead and inspire our design team whilst driving the quality of the customer experience for our banking-as-a-service platform end client’s and their customers as well as for our operations colleagues.
  • This is an opportunity to gain valuable exposure as you lead relationships with key stakeholders

What you'll do

As a Design Manager, you'll oversee and prioritise design projects across multiple product lines and facilitating design thinking workshops and brainstorming sessions.

You’ll be managing, coaching and mentoring a team of designers and user researchers, building advocacy of good UX and design, along with identifying and socialising tools, templates, and techniques that enable the team to become even more efficient and effective.

You’ll also be:

  • Ensuring consistency and quality of design output across the team
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our existing digital experiences, focusing on their usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding
  • Presenting design concepts and rationales to senior leadership, stakeholders and clients
  • Uncovering useful qualitative and quantitative insights to obtain buy in from teams and stakeholders, making sure opportunities and problems are clearly understood
  • Contributing to the evolution of our design system and UI component library

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need an expert understanding of human or user-centred design methods, usability, user research and accessibility. You’ll also need strong experience leading design teams in fast paced, technology-driven environments, preferably in fintech or banking sectors.

You’ll have a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user-centred design processes and ability to create intuitive, elegant solutions for complex financial products

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • The ability to solve problems, and understand issues and opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent influencing and story-telling skills
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and ability to balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints in a Banking-as-a-Service context
  • A proven track record of mentoring and developing junior designers, with experience managing a team of product designer
