Balfour Beatty is seeking a dedicated and skilled Design Manager (Bridges) to join our amazing Major projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London.

HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail
station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

The construction of the HS2 stations heavy civils infrastructure is nearing completion here at the Old Oak Common site, baseline detailed design is accepted by the client and the appointment of the suppliers to build the integrated station is nearing completion.

To enable existing railway corridor to be re-aligned, the rail supporting structures need to be rebuilt.

As a Design Manager (Bridges) your involvement will be in the timely delivery of quality assured designs by the consultants, in coordination with the construction teams and stakeholders. The package interfaces with other works in the same constrained zone, namely bridge replacements and interim and end state highway realignment works.,

  • Develop and compile with consultants technical change design packages to the projects program and key dates

  • Manage delivery of technical submissions from Work Package contractor

  • Manage the coordination between design and construction teams and subcontractors

  • Support the Engineering, BIM and Technical Assurance (sub) teams to achieve Code 1 Acceptance of all Design Deliverables

    What might we be looking for?

  • Engineering degree or demonstrated abilities from a successful career in this field

  • Expertise in Design Management or Engineering Management

  • Proficiency in English Communication (Both Verbal and Written)
