Full Job Description

Pre-Construction Services refers to the planning of a construction project before the actual construction begins. As a Pre-Construction team member, you will be a key part of Design & Construction team in the development and implementation of the EU facility network, supporting the standardization of the technical and facility related processes and systems infrastructure focusing primarily on Fulfillment Centers throughout the GES Design Review (DR) Process, a robust project design quality management mechanism which purpose is to evaluate all site-specific designs against Amazon Global Realty Building Design Standards and local regulatory codes, to achieve construction and associate experience excellence. This process is digitalized and performed in the DR tool which currently lives in Autodesk BIM360. As Design Review Leader, you will be responsible for standardize and centralize the DR process to raise the bar of effective process management to support Pre-Construction managers (PCMs) in assessing projects' design quality and compliance throughout its whole lifecycle, from real estate, design and construction, to operations. We are looking for a leader who can own and raise the quality bar for the project team. In this role, you will learn and understand DR process and will work with several internal and external teams to guide them through successful design review stages and ensuring all required steps and quality are being met before moving on with further milestones on the project. Furthermore, to keep the process up to date, the DR leader will continuously observe and report on any improvements required within the process or tool (BIM360). This opportunity combines the knowledge of construction engineering, planning, project management, real estate development, validating design, understanding local building code issues, utilities, sustainability and multi-disciplinary design management. Key job responsibilities

  • You will independently manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders' informed to contribute to the performance of the team, building trust and respect in all working relationships.
  • You will keep the scope under control and accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately.
  • You will work with internal/external and drive results through communicating, weighing risks, clearing blockers, making decisions, leading and influencing.
  • You will oversee professional service providers ensuring their skills and competencies meet the needs required of entitling property and projects.
  • You will perform pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions and negotiate the cost of the work with the developer, general contractor and design consultants.
  • You will estimate cost, manage Due Diligences, schedule tracking, and forecasting are fundamental components, including identifying and solving factors that may impede a successful permitted project hand-over.
  • You will supervise the implementation and management of Amazon's safety programs and standards

  • A day in the life Each day you will represent GES in ensuring the quality and adherence to the programme and the standardization of the projects and will be responsible of your business unit design reviews and follow up with its activities. You will collaborate with different internal Amazon customers and support external design teams carrying successful design reviews forward. You will attend all to the DR meetings, and ensure the correct process is being followed and the pertinent stakeholders are involved. After each meeting, you will be responsible of performing a process quality audit using BIM 360 Field Management and identify defects (manual/process or tool) and follow up on their amendment on a timely manner. You will have the opportunity to host DR office hours and assist DR customers with questions and you will attend project kick-off calls to onboard new external teams on the process and available resources.   • A completed Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field.
  • Process management/ Quality training experience to be able to understand basic concepts and process milestones.
  • Project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation.
  • Experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Owner's project management representative or other Commercial Development and Construction related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success in communicating to various audiences and multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and BIM360.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% across projects.,
  • Demonstrated capability in the planning, design review & implementation, and project management /control of new structures & the enhancement of existing facility buildings will be considered
  • Experience at Amazon in any role would be desired.
  • Demonstrated success in project coordination activities
  • German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications
