Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and talented Food Technician to join our Design and Technology Faculty. The successful candidate will prepare and source food technology materials and equipment to support the teaching and learning of lessons, together with maintaining classrooms and prep rooms, their equipment and services.

The successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic, committed and inspiring. You will help to create a fun and engaging learning environment which will assist students in their progression towards their exams.

Experience of working as a Food Technician is not necessary, as full training will be provided.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support to teaching staff in the classroom and helping to manage student behaviour to ensure all health and safety rules are followed

  • Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials and equipment to enable the smooth delivery of lessons, including organising the online delivery of food supplies

  • Set up resources and prepare materials and equipment for lessons

  • Contribute to creating a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to students learning

  • Work with individual students to support their learning and engagement in lessons

  • Offer support for students coming back to finish work as and where necessary to meet GCSE and A level deadlines

  • Maintain a clean environment in the classroom at all times

  • Maintain resources, displays and equipment

  • Undertake administrative duties within the department including the use of ICT

  • Support school events as required

  • HCC - H3 Scale 5-6 actual salary £8,947 - £9,092 per annum including outer fringe allowance, based on 16 hours per week, term time only plus 4 days

  • Hourly rate: £12.54 - £12.74 including outer fringe allowance


  • Full-time equivalent salary = H3 Scale 5-6 £24,189 - £24,582 pa (including outer fringe allowance of £689 pa)


  • Hours

    16 hours per week over 4-5 days, Monday to Friday from 8.00am, term time only plus 4 days. Schedule to be discussed during interview.
