Full Job Description

To be successful in the post, we are looking for a Designated Safeguarding Lead who will act as the main point of contact, with lead responsibility within the school, for safeguarding and child protection in line with statutory requirements. Lead in facilitating the development of safeguarding policies, guidance, training and procedures for the school. Evaluate training provided, ensure compliance and ensuing that safeguarding is embedded in the culture of the school.

The successful candidate will lead the safeguarding across the school, working a flexible 25 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have:

  • GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and mathematics.

  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, within a safeguarding context e.g. DSL, DDSL, Social Worker.

  • An excellent understanding of school policies in particular relation to safeguarding, child protection, attendance, behaviour, H&S, UK GDPR.

  • The ability to establish professional, effective working relationships.

    Key areas of work will include:

  • Produce written reports to ensure all stakeholders are informed of the safeguarding arrangements in school, including data analysis.

  • Lead school based meetings and CPD sessions for safeguarding with all staff members.

  • Ensure all staff are kept fully updated of changes, polices, procedures and legislation of safeguarding and other related areas.

  • Be available for staff to discuss any safeguarding issues.

  • Develop and maintain positive links with relevant external agencies and local DSLs to enhance safeguarding processes.

  • Establish constructive relationships with parent/carers.

  • Prepare and compile accurate reports for use in case reviews.

  • Manage sensitive record keeping systems (MyConcern).
