Designer

"Design breath-taking products that tell the visual story of their function". Create 'clean sheet' concept & production ready design solutions compatible with concurrent engineering exercises to the McLaren Design Process (MDP) & program timing. Lead the design delivering to the Design Strategy & business' requirements. What You'll Do

• Lead the design project to deliver the design vision/strategy.
• Produce high impact visual content for senior presentations.
• Run & set the agenda of weekly Design Review(s) and minute feedback/actions.
• Input into resource and timing discussions G0-G4, as required.
• Work within the wider CMD, CAS, Model making & Engineering teams; to present feasible design solutions to Function Group representatives and Senior Management for sign-off.
• Reconcile design intent, quality & manufacturing feasibility with aerodynamics, engineering and commercial requirements.
• Communicate progress and critical issues to the Design Manager.
• Attend program and engineering reviews.
• Attend surface reviews.
• Offer input into the creation and update of design standards & process.
• Input into Design Strategy.
• Be a role model, live the values and communicate the design pillars to other departments., Challenge Mind-set: "Keep a calm head, see the situation as a challenge not a threat."

  Education to Degree level minimum. Minimum 5 years OEM automotive experience.
• Good verbal & written presentation skills.
• Excellent 2D sketching & 3D skills/knowledge. (Photoshop, Clay, SubD. Alias is a plus).
• Basic program timing skills.
• PC literate. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience on clay & digital properties for production/advanced design.
• Ability to lead an exterior or interior throughout project milestones.
• Very good understanding of ergonomics, aerodynamic principles & legal requirements.
