Full Job Description

We currently have a vacancy for the position of Despatch Operative based at our Preston site. The role involves managing pick sheet orders from warehouse staff and management and physically picking stock onto pallets to ensure accurate delivery of customer orders. Picking orders also includes wrapping finished pallets and keeping accurate records of stock to have an up-to-date detailed stock.

  • Manages picking sheets.
  • Picking stock from racking systems and from production lines by depot, product, quantity and quality requirements
  • Ensure all orders are accurate
  • Operating handling equipment and ensures safety regulations are followed
  • Stock rotation and stock taking patterns and practices
  • Operate scanners so that orders are picked and managed accurately
  • Product identification and label/date checking.
  • Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, paying particular attention to Manual Handling and Forklift Truck operation
  • Maintain the hygiene of the despatch chiller, keeping all crates and litter, especially plastic straps, off the floor.

    A good general educational background with strong communication skills
  • A keen attitude to work
  • Experience is an advantage but not a necessity
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative whilst operating as part of a team striving for total customer satisfaction.
  • A forklift license is also desirable, but not essential as training will be given.
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
