Full Job Description

Cranswick Convenience Foods is seeking a dedicated and proactive Despatch Team Leader to oversee a small production team. The Despatch department is the final stop in our cooked sliced meat production process. This team is responsible for picking and re-palletizing products, and ensuring they are ready for delivery. This hands-on role involves working alongside team members to ensure the smooth operation of production lines and areas, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.,

  • Operational Management: Deliver daily operational plans and escalate production issues to the Supervisor as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure team adherence to health & safety, food safety, and personal hygiene regulations.
  • Training: Participate in and ensure proper training of procedures for team members.
  • Performance: Assist the Supervisor in achieving or improving performance targets.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain GMP standards and achieve Green results in weekly technical audits.
  • Team Development: Conduct team appraisals and on-the-job training to promote development.
  • Leadership: Provide cover for the Supervisor in their absence and manage team break times.
  • Professionalism: Represent the company's high standards and maintain a professional demeanour.
  • Administration: Complete the required paperwork and update systems for your shift.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform any other tasks as reasonably requested by the line manager.

  • Report damaged or faulty equipment to engineers and managers.
  • Manage and report unsafe activities.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and clothing.
  • Ensure compliance with management systems by all employees in your area.
  • Food Safety:
  • Produce safe and legal products in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
  • Follow all reasonable instructions given to ensure product safety and quality.
  • Training:
  • Undertake all relevant operational, technical, health & safety, environment, and development training.
  • Assist in the safe introduction and development of new colleagues.
  • Be open and receptive to all required training to fulfil your role.
  • Commit to training and development as outlined in the colleague handbook.

    Proven experience as a Team Leader or Operative in a Food Manufacturing role.
  • Strong knowledge of basic food hygiene and health & safety principles.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English., Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
  • Conscientious and able to communicate well with others.
  • Willingness to learn and be a supportive team player.
  • Leads by example, fostering a positive working environment.
