Full Job Description

With the support of a dedicated Financial Intelligence team, the aim of the RART team is to proactively identify and disrupt the criminal flow of money, and deprive criminals of their illicit assets. This is achieved through utilising a variety of proactive tactics, as well as traditional criminal investigation and POCA powers such as Account Freezing Orders.

Working in our ROCU means you will be part of the national fight against serious and organised criminality. You will have an insight into the national policing picture, working alongside colleagues from other forces, being involved in investigations from a wide range of teams and supporting colleagues up and down the UKs ROCU network. It is an exciting area to work in, and one that is constantly evolving in response to the criminal threats that we face. We would welcome applications from substantive DCs who want to be a part of this growing area of policing.

We are looking for an adaptable and driven detective, preferably with a background in SOC, who is willing to review financial transactions on a spreadsheet as much as use and deploy covert tactics. You will need to have a willingness to learn new skills, and keep abreast of the changing technological opportunities.

We will support your training and development to transition into the role, including Financial and Fraud Investigator accreditations.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • In consultation with the Detective Sergeant, identify and develop suitable cases for investigation all reasonable effective and efficient lines of enquiry, plan and conduct secondary investigations in operations targeting serious level criminals within organised crime groups

  • Use knowledge and experience of serious and sophisticated criminality to analyse and identify appropriate opportunities and techniques to address investigative problems including telecommunications and forensics

  • Prepare case papers in accordance with Force policy and Directors Manual of Guidance for file preparation

  • Plan and conduct complex interviews of suspects of serious level of criminality, complying with Quality Focussed Investigation procedures and the national PEACE interviewing model

  • The candidate must be highly motivated and able to work both closely with other members of the team and at times on their own. You may be required to assist other teams within the ROCU on operational matters. You must display the highest ethical standards and integrity.

There is flexibility around the base location of the role between TVP, Hants, or Surrey/Sussex, and there will be opportunities to work remotely.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence, If you wish to apply you need to have support from your Head of Command / Department.
  • Hampshire officers need to complete an AD277b alongside their application. This form is not available on the force's standard forms library. It can be found on the HR Portal. Please contact WFPlanning@hampshire.police.uk if you have any queries relating to this.

  • Kent Officers will need to inform Kent HR Resource Planning at the earliest opportunity of intention to apply. Every Officer application form must be signed by the Chief Supt or police staff equivalent and sent to Kent HR Resource Planning no later than 5 working days prior to closing date unless exceptional circumstances apply. This is required so that Chief Officer approval can be obtained for the application to progress, which will be managed by Kent HR Resource Planning. These steps must be completed prior to submission application. If your application for an opportunity is not approved prior to submission to the recruiting organisation you may not be supported for release to the role, should you be successful.

  • Officers from other forces are welcome to apply. You may wish to consult with your HR team regarding completion of additional forms.

  • Please upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent copy of your CPD record/Focus Feedback meeting) and a copy of your Training Record. Please also upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the Job Advert) in the 'Line Managers Approval Form'.

At SEROCU we are committed to reflecting the communities we serve, and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds. We welcome applications from those interested in part time and flexible working, and encourage applications from our under represented communities.
