Detention Custody Officer (DCO) - Immigration Services - France (juxtaposed sites - Coquelles, Calais, Dunkirk) Salary : £31,537 per annum Hours: 42 hours per week - 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern Please note you must be able to remain in France for the duration of your 4 on shift pattern, there is no provision to travel back to the UK during this period. Accommodation, meals, and travel is provided. You must have a UK valid in-date passport or settled status in UK (indefinite leave to remain is not classed as settled status) and must have held a UK manual car driver's licence for 1 year. We're looking for respectful, caring people to join our teams. If you're the right one for us, your strong communication & interpersonal skills, non-judgemental approach, excellent problem solving skills and ability to keep calm under pressure will be the foundations to develop your Care & Custody career. Your new role as DCO will require you to work in a holding room where you will ensure the safety and security of the residents in your custody. No specific role experience or qualifications are required to be a DCO as full training and supported development are given. Experience of dealing sensitively with a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage. You'll begin your Care & Custody career completing a 4 week initial training course. Please note that this course may be in a separate location to the role. This will develop the skills needed to professionally deliver this rewarding, sometimes challenging role with integrity and respect. Qualifications Essential Criteria
- UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with your own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen.
- Valid and in-date passport, with no restrictions on your stay in the UK
- Continuously resided in the UK for the previous 3 years with no more than 3 months spent overseas at any one time.
- Be over 21 years of age
- Specific driving compliance is attached to this role.
- Full UK manual driving licence with at least 12 months post qualifying experience.
- Fewer than 7 points on your UK Driving Licence.
- Have not been subject to a driving ban within the last 12 months (from date of ban ending)
- Not currently bankrupt
- The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; Successful candidates will be required to undergo Enhanced DBS and vetting to a level of Counter Terrorist Checked (CTC). Additional Information The training course will last 4 weeks and details will be provided on interview.
