Full Job Description

Purpose of Role: Assist the Development Director (DD) and the Development Manager (DM) to maximise value and performance in line with SBU (Strategic Business Unit) strategy and business plan (financial, social and environmental) and contribute to achievement of quarterly targets in the business plan, maximising value in line with the Value Creation Framework. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple work streams required to deliver The Crown Estate (TCE) development pipeline including cost, value and programme delivery targets set by the Development Director to support implementation of the development strategy and business plan.,

  • Maximise value and performance in line with SBU strategy and business plan (financial, social and environmental)
  • Responsible for contributing to the achievement of quarterly targets in the business plan relevant to the stage of each project
  • Accountable for the day-to-day management and progression of multiple work streams for 2 development projects (working with Development Director or Development Manager) . Support the Development Manager to implement the vision, strategy and business plan for the project(s) and progress the project(s) in line with the gateway process and programme targets
  • Work with project work stream sub-groups/teams (internal and external) - to include commercial market interface, third party negotiations, specific stakeholder group management, , energy strategy, infrastructure design, financial modelling, estate management & stewardship strategy
  • Work collaboratively with other related functions within TCE (within SBU and group) to achieve the vision and business plan including Health & Safety, Sustainability, Marketing and Communications etc.)
  • Responsibility for budget monitoring and management to ensure cost and value targets are achieved
  • Responsible for specific stakeholder relationships locally (working with DD/DM)
  • Responsible for actively promoting innovation in placemaking, social impact, digital and sustainability in line with TCE ambition, strategy and values
  • Proactively manages business risk (incl H&S (Health & Safety)) and ensure that timely action is taken, including escalation, when required to the appropriate person
  • Apply the principles established through the re-structure, agility, empowerment, delegation, drive innovation and customer focus

  • Experience of development appraisals and feasibility to determine and identify viable development opportunities
  • Excellent communicator with experience of writing governance reports and producing relevant documentation and reporting requirements at key stages of development
  • Desirable to have experience across mixed use assets, in particular residential and commercial projects.
  • Experience of being part of a team to deliver a project through various RIBA stages, against a defined budget and challenging timescales
  • Relevant Real Estate, Surveying, Engineering or Architecture qualification
  • Experience of involvement in a Procurement/Supply Chain process aligned with a large construction or development project
  • Excellent ability to negotiate, influence and build strong relationships internally and externally (including matrix reporting)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, resilient and skilled at diplomacy
  • A highly motivated team player who can also work independently to deliver goals and objectives.
  • Strong understanding of the London town planning environment and stages of planning approval.
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements and third-party approvals that may be required throughout the stages of development / delivery.
