What you'll be involved in You will work with a team of multidisciplinary Engineers working at the forefront of development projects, providing your design knowledge in aiding the business to develop safety critical designs through the full project lifecycle, from concept to implementation. The Development Engineer will perform a hands-on role to carry out design and Engineering tasks on specific projects in addition to providing coordination and coherence across all projects. The role will enable learning points and best practice to be shared throughout the team and will ensure efficient future development through commonality and re-use of designs, verification, and qualification data. Some aspects for the role will include:
- Working within a multi-functional team to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for new and existing high reliability safety critical products.
- As part of the development team provide inputs to ensure new and existing products are designed and developed on time and to cost.
- Working with your Team Lead to understand new product requirements and support in customer bid work.
- Liaising with external and internal customer as required.
- Provide informed design inputs supported by understanding of Engineering and manufacturing techniques as well as product environmental requirements.
- Taking part in design reviews, providing inputs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins., The successful candidate for this role will have good overview of mechanical and electronic Engineering principles including; - Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical/ Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Product Engineering role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- An understanding of systems engineering techniques would be beneficial.
- Exposure to Safety Critical design requirements would be beneficial but not essential.
- Previous experience of working in the Defence sector would be beneficial.
- Adaptable, with good attention to detail and quality mind-set.
- Computer literate, using MS platforms such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to manage own time and workload. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to gain full UK Security Clearance once in the business.
