An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nursing Development Team (NDT) at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust for the post of Development Nurse (Band 2-4 Workforce Lead). This is a great opportunity for a registered nurse who has an interest and experience in management, teaching and education of nursing colleagues and supporting Health Care Support Worker development, who would like to enhance and develop their career., The Development Nurse (Band 2-4 Workforce Lead) is responsible for ensuring the development, delivery, and oversight of initiatives supporting the professional growth and training of the Band 2-4 workforce, including Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs), Nursing Associates, and Registered Nurse top up apprentices. The post holder will lead the delivery of Care Certificate Programme (CCP), facilitate development pathways for Band 2-4 staff, and manage the Nursing Associate and Registered Nurse Top-Up apprenticeships. This role plays a critical part in promoting high standards of care, fostering a learning culture, and enhancing workforce retention within the Trust.,

  • Lead on the delivery of the Care Certificate Programme (CCP) for Healthcare Support Workers, ensuring alignment with Trust, national, and governmental standards.
  • Regularly evaluate the CCP, responding to feedback, policy changes, and audit findings to enhance the quality and relevance of training.
  • Work closely with managers and education leads to support the CCP completion, addressing issues related to supervision and learning environment quality.
  • Design and deliver evidence-based, high-quality education programs for Band 2-4 workforce, using various training methods tailored to meet learner needs.
  • Provide mentorship and continuous professional support to HCSWs, especially within their first six months, and assist with Functional Skills and the Higher Development Award (HDA) programme.
  • Lead in creating and implementing induction programs and CPD opportunities that set high clinical standards and foster professional growth within Band 2-4 staff.
  • Develop effective partnerships with managers, supervisors, and other staff to ensure that HCSWs have a supportive learning environment and meet their developmental milestones.
