Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed candidate to fill the post of Development Officer within a friendly and supportive area based team of Development Officers responsible for delivering Development Management within Cornwall. You will be joining a very experienced team with the additional benefit of a varied caseload and a mix of home and office working. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. Qualifications at NVQ level 4 (HNC or other equivalent). Basic knowledge and understanding of:

  • the legislation, technical, and key policy issues underpinning the relevant key areas of development management at national, regional and local level and relevant best practice.
  • working in a planning or housing environment.
  • skills and ability in successfully working with customers.
  • managing and prioritising workloads
  • being able to process a significant volume of work with speed and a high degree of accuracy.
  • producing high quality reports for the public domain
  • communication or presentation skills in dealing with the public
