Full Job Description

Take responsibility for the welfare and comfort of the patient whilst under the care of clinical radiology - prior, during and after their examination. Ensure that they are kept informed of any factors, such as delays, that are likely to affect them

To act as an operator under IR(ME)R 2017

Working within the protocol based system, the post-holder must have the knowledge and skills to be able to adapt existing protocols when required.

Advise patients on general aspects of their referral, giving a clear explanation of the procedure and allaying any unnecessary anxieties.

Physically position the patient for a full range of examinations ensuring image quality, patient comfort and safety are always maintained.

Inform patient when the examination is complete and ensure they are aware of where they need to go or where/when they will obtain their results

Ensure that full patient and examination data is entered onto the radiology patient management system.

Working without supervision, participate in the out of hours rosters to maintain a 7-day service.

Be aware of and maintain quality standards, policies and procedures adopted within the Unit.

The post-holder is required to work independently, using initiative, skills and knowledge to provide a high quality, professional service at all times. Close communication with the multi-disciplinary staff within the radiology department and with wards and departments is essential in the provision of the service.

Successful candidates will be given full training in DEXA scanning. If you are interested in learning this new skill, but would also like to retain existing skills, e.g. CT, MR or General imaging, we would be happy to consider a rotational post. DEXA is based at Withington Community Hospital and operates as part of a seven day service but post holder will be required to cover the service at MRI Oxford Road., MFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
