Full Job Description

You will be part of a teaching team delivering the award-winning structured education programme DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-management for Ongoing and newly diagnosed) to people with diabetes in the community. This will include teaching in group sessions, 1 to 1 sessions and on virtual platforms., As a proactive member of the team your primary duties will be to assist in the delivery of DESMOND to patients in group settings, which will require driving to training venues across Bedfordshire. The role also supports the ICDS team in the delivery of training and education to other health care professionals., To work as a key member of the Community Diabetes Education Service to support the provision of structured patient education, the education of family, carers, care assistants and support workers providing care for the person with Type 2 Diabetes living in supported living.

The part time Band 4 Diabetes Support Educator/Facilitator post would be suitable for an individual with an interest in health and wellbeing/nutrition. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills together with an ability to use their own initiative. The post holder will be able to work flexibly with the 15.00 hrs arranged over 2 days which will sometimes include some evenings and Saturdays.
