This is an exciting post that offers an integrated role within the Diabetes Specialist Service at Epsom and St Helier University Hospital Trust.

The role of Diabetes Specialist Dietitian will be responsible for the dietetic management of adult diabetes patients' under the care of the specialist diabetes team.

Our department service includes the provision of Insulin Pump therapy and Diabetes technologies. Antenatal diabetes services, Type 1 structured education including Carbohydrate counting principles, Multi-disciplinary clinics including renal patients., The post holder would be responsible for the development and provision of specialist, evidence based dietetic diabetes nutrition services to patients with diabetes.

As a Diabetes Dietitian within our team you will be providing dietetic advice to adults with diabetes.

A knowledge of carbohydrate counting education, insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring is important, however training and support will be provided.

The role includes a mix of providing one-to-one clinics and Type 1 diabetes group education, delivered virtually and face to face.

The post holder will work closely with Diabetes Dietitians within the department and support with clinical development within the department.

Communicate effectively with medical, nursing and other professional staff in both acute and community services.

Provide expert dietetic advice to the multidisciplinary team through attendance and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, educational meetings and clinical governance meetings.

Be responsible for ensuring that patients and carers have consented prior to dietetic intervention in line with professional guidelines.

Ability to utilise developed communication and teaching skills to educate the diverse and multicultural diabetes population with barriers to understanding the essential, highly complex carbohydrate counting principles both on a one to one basis and in groups.
