In addition you will be responsible for your own clinics, by reminding patients of their appointments and ringing DNAs in the clinic.
The Retinal Screener will responsible for triaging and recognising diabetic abnormalities for fast track referral.
You will be required to drive between the 9 screening venues in the Northamptonshire, based in Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Irthlingborough, Northampton x 2, Daventry, Towcester and Brackley.
This is a countywide post and the successful candidate will be expected to work on a rota basis. The screening clinics run Monday - Friday with a minimum of one Saturday morning per month., The Diabetic Eye Screening team currently has 28 team members and is a multidisciplinary team, comprising administration, failsafe, management, screeners, graders and Clinical Lead. We have set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to meet and we aim to screen a minimum of 75% of our cohort of diabetic patients on an annual basis. We have trained grading staff within the team who assess the images taken by the screeners and refer onwards to the 2 acute Hospital Eye Services if deemed necessary.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Can you demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team? Are you computer literate and do you have excellent interpersonal skills?
Previous health service knowledge is essential. You will need a technical or similar qualification and be prepared to undertake the Health Screener qualification.
You will be expected to run eye screening clinics, to include administering eye drops and taking an accurate patient history. You will also be responsible for capturing high quality digital retinal images using both fundus and OCT cameras for diabetic patients within the county of Northamptonshire., The post holder will be expected to work Monday - Friday and have the flexibility to work weekdays between the hours of 8.00am - 7:30pm. The post holder will be expected to work a minimum of one evening clinic per week and one Saturday (8am to 4pm) per month on a rota basis.
