Full Job Description
We are looking for a Diagnostic Mechanic to work within the Global Diagnostic Procedures department of Ford Customer Service Division, located at Dunton, Essex. The successful candidate would work as a member of the Diagnostic Validation team responsible for testing diagnostic software as used by Ford Authorised Repairers and Independent Operators. This position is on a permanent day shift, Monday to Friday basis.
- Using Etis IDS, PTS (Professional Technician System), SBDO (Symptom Based Diagnostics Online), and GFDRS (Global Ford Diagnostic & Repair System) diagnostic software and hardware to conduct in-vehicle diagnostic validation.
- Access and update Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) for test requests and reports.
- Bench test validation using test rig set-up.
- Repair and/ or replacement of component parts to engineering instructions.
- Diagnostic investigation and rectification of vehicle faults and failures.
- General day-to-day workshop duties to ensure effective operation.
- Provide verbal, written and electronic feedback on issues identified.
- Keep up to date with new software and development procedures as well as new vehicle launches.
Must have experience with vehicle electronics/ electrical systems to support vehicle diagnostic validation. - Ideally have experience using Etis IDS, PTS (Professional Technician System), SBDO (Symptom Based Diagnostics Online) and GFDRS (Global Ford Diagnostic & Repair System).
- Be prepared to learn new skills including the use of virtual vehicle environments.
- Hold a recognised apprenticeship in Automotive Studies.
- Hold an NVQ level 3 qualification in Automotive or related studies.
- Have significant vehicle diagnostic experience working in an Automotive or similar commercial environment.
- Have strong IT skills and be prepared to spend a significant amount of their day working on a diagnostic laptop.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Be able to work well in a team.
- Be familiar with and work to all Health and Safety at work standards.
- Hold a full UK driving license.
- Be prepared to be flexible and use initiative and work without close supervision.
