Full Job Description

As a Dietetic Assistant in a Tier 3 Bariatric Service, you will support the multidisciplinary team in providing specialized care for patients with obesity who are undergoing weight management interventions. Your role involves assisting registered dietitians in delivering nutritional assessments, implementing care plans, and educating patients on healthy eating habits and behavior change techniques. You will help prepare educational materials, collect patient data, and support patients in their journey to achieve long-term weight loss and improve their health.

Working closely with dietitians, you will contribute to the management of patients both pre- and post-bariatric surgery, ensuring that they receive tailored nutritional advice. This role is vital for helping patients meet their weight loss goals and preparing them for potential surgical interventions. Your role will also include administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records and booking appointments, making you a key part of the care team in delivering comprehensive bariatric services., As a Dietetic Assistant, you support dietitians in delivering care to patients in the Tier 3 Bariatric Service. Your key duties include:
1. Supporting Nutritional Assessments:Assist in gathering patient information, including dietary habits and medical histories. Take measurements like weight and height to monitor patient progress and help assess nutritional status.
2. Assisting with Care Plans:Help implement individualized dietary plans designed by dietitians to support patients weight management goals. Monitor adherence and make adjustments as directed by the dietitian.
3. Patient Education:Provide guidance on healthy eating, portion control, and behavior change strategies to help patients adopt sustainable habits. Offer pre- and post-operative dietary support as needed.
4. Preparing Educational Resources:Create and distribute meal plans, food guides, and educational materials to help patients follow their care plans and make informed dietary choices.
5. Administrative Tasks:Maintain accurate patient records, assist in scheduling appointments, and ensure clinic processes run efficiently.
6. Data Collection:Collect patient data on weight and dietary habits to track progress and report outcomes to the dietitian, ensuring effective service evaluation.
7. Team Collaboration:Work alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care, supporting patients in their weight loss journey and preparing for potential surgery.
