Full Job Description

Principle Duties
· To be responsible for organising delivery of nutritional supplements using specified companies.
· To support the paediatric dietitian in Catering-related tasks and attend meetings.
· To assist with completion of Home Enteral feeding administration for children discharged home on Enteral Feeds (in house training will be provided)
· To contribute to setting up and be responsible for maintaining operational systems within the department.
· To achieve and maintain competencies through skills and knowledge development.
· To collect and record patient information in EPR in line with departmental guidelines., + To communicate with companies involved in patient care (e.g. Hospital to home) to support safe discharges and high-quality patient care.
+ To utilise resources available and to seek support to communicate with patients and relatives who have communication difficulties. These may include non-English speakers and those hard of hearing, arranging interpreters for clinic appointments if required
+ To support the dietitian in collecting patient-related information using standardised protocols
+ To gain valid informed consent prior to any intervention. To work within a legal framework, under the supervision of a therapist, for those patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
· To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic patient records in line with legal requirements and Trust guidelines.
· To be able to recognise signs of psychological/ emotional difficulties, escalating concerns where needed; to ensure that the patient receives appropriate support.
Administrative Responsibilities
· To answer the telephone in a professional manner, to take messages and follow them up with the appropriate person.
· To maintain clinical and administrative records as appropriate.
