Full Job Description

South West London (SWL) Integrated Care Board is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Dietitian to work within our Medicines Optimisation team. The aim of the post is to support the high quality, safe and cost effective prescribing of nutrition products in SWL, mainly focusing on adult Oral Nutritional Supplements. This post is part of a small team of Dietitians working within the Medicines Optimisation team. The post holder will cover the borough of Kingston and some travel within this area may be required. We offer a mixture of office and home working, with regular team office days being held at our office in Wimbledon. The post is part time, offering hours per week. Main duties of the job To work with GP Practices in the borough of Kingston to provide evidence based dietetic advice and support in their decision making around prescribing of nutrition products. Directly review patients with an ongoing prescription for Oral Nutritional Supplements and undertake full nutritional assessment as required; making recommendations for a Food Based Approach where appropriate and ensuring that the most clinically and cost effective oral nutritional supplements are prescribed, if clinically indicated. Provide education and training to GP practices and other healthcare professionals district nurses, palliative care teams, care home staff, speech and language therapists, pharmacists. Liaise with local dietetic teams as appropriate to promote clinically and cost-effective prescribing processes across primary, secondary and community care. Support the development and implementation of guidelines, patient information leaflets and other resources.,

Groups include : oJoint Formulary Committee (JFC)oIntegrated Medicines Optimisation Committee (IMOC)oMedicines Optimisation Safety Improvement and Learning Network (MOSILN)Work with the ICBs medicines optimisation team to ensure the high quality, safe and cost-effective use of oral nutritional supplements in primary that the ICB has access to an excellent advisory service on dietetic prescribing which promotes cost effectiveness and safety.

    Education / Qualifications Essential
  • Degree / post graduate diploma or equivalent qualification in Dietetics or equivalent.
  • Health and Care Professions Council registration as a dietician.
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Desirable
  • Post-graduate degree in relevant subject
  • BDA Parenteral and Enteral Group Specialist or NAGE Course
  • Knowledge and Experience Essential
  • Experience in managing patients requiring nutrition support with other nutrition related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, malnutrition.
  • Experience in care of the elderly. Previous dietetic experience, working to at least Band 6 level.
  • Experience in training / teaching healthcare professionals.
  • Experience and understanding of the importance of effective multidisciplinary / multi agency working.
  • Experience of clinical audit, methods of evaluation and critical appraisal.
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Experience of working in a community setting, primary care / in nursing and residential homes.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice in nutritional support / enteral feeding in adults.
  • Knowledge and application of counselling skills / motivational interviewing / behavioural change
  • Knowledge and application of safeguarding principles.
  • Knowledge and application of safeguarding principles.
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments;
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting;
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence for a senior audience;
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
  • Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.

  • Skills and Abilities Essential
  • Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources;
  • Numerate and able to understand complex financial issues combined with deep analytical skills;
  • Intermediate / advanced Keyboard skill - intermediate / advance ability to use Microsoft Office package
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools
  • Ability to prepare and produce concise communications for dissemination to a broad range of stakeholders as required;
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work flexibly to provide support to other departments and teams as and when necessary
