Dietitian - Tier 3 Bariatrics - Derby & Burton

The Dietitian will play a key role in delivering first attendance consultations to patients referred to the Tier 3 bariatric service. The role involves assessing patients nutritional status, developing individualized care plans, and providing dietary interventions to support patients in managing obesity and preparing for potential bariatric surgery.,

• Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments during first appointments, including reviewing medical history, dietary habits, and lifestyle factors.
• Develop personalized dietary care plans that are realistic and tailored to the patient's needs, supporting weight management and improving overall health.
• Educate and counsel patients on dietary strategies to manage obesity, including portion control, nutritional intake, and behavior modification.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., psychologists, bariatric surgeons, nurses) to provide holistic care for patients.
• Monitor patient progress through follow-up assessments, adjusting dietary plans as necessary to meet ongoing health and nutritional goals.
• Provide pre- and post-operative nutritional support to patients undergoing bariatric surgery, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with NHS policies and procedures.
• Promote evidence-based dietary advice in alignment with NICE guidelines and current research on obesity management.
