Full Job Description

Are you an experienced technology professional who is passionate about digital innovation, creative use of technology and making a difference? Do you want to join a team that is dedicated to ensuring that Gloucestershire County Council utilises technology in the best way possible? If so, read on... About the Team & Role: You will be joining the Digital Innovation team, part of the Digital & ICT service who deliver and support technology solutions for the officers and councillors of Gloucestershire County Council (including the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, NHS partners, schools and other services that work with the organisation). The Digital Innovation team includes the Digital & ICT projects management office, technical specialists, developers and the business communications/engagement team. We work alongside our colleagues in IT Service Management, Infrastructure and Security. With an excellent grasp of digital technologies and their application, you will play a pivotal role in driving technological change across our organisation which will underpin our digital transformation as we seek to improve our internal and external customer experience, drive-up service quality, reduce service costs and wastage, and improve our ability to collaborate and communicate with staff, partners, and our service users. You will serve as the strategic interface between IT and our customers in our Children's Social Care and Education directorate. With responsibility for the day-to-day relationships with business stakeholders, you will act as a key point of contact and ensure consistency of engagement across your business areas, working with them to seek out opportunities for effective use of technology. Your active engagement with the directorate will drive a mutual understanding of their strategic direction and objectives which will in turn shape how our support to them is aligned. Essentially, you will act as the voice of D&ICT in the business and the voice of the business in D&ICT.

Our ideal candidate will ideally have experience in programme management, change and transformation work and strategy formation with a proven record of influencing stakeholders at all levels, pipeline management and acting as a thought-leader. You should be able to clearly articulate your ideas, concepts and technical details to non-technical stakeholders, effectively collaborate with team members and other departments and be able to adjust to new challenges quickly managing multiple areas of focus simultaneously. We will encourage you to stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in technology so you must be comfortable with self-study and enjoy researching new ways of using technology to make the way we work better for all., We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential. It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

For all your hard work, you will receive the following:

  • Flexible and agile working opportunities
  • 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years continuous service
  • An option to purchase 10 days of additional leave per year
  • Family friendly employer offering benefits to help support you and your family
