Full Job Description

We are looking for a Digital Content Producer who can inspire people to visit our free galleries, exhibitions and events through friendly, accessible and engaging digital content. You will produce content that meets the needs of our visitors, helping them to plan their day, find out what's on and discover events, exhibitions and displays that support their interest in the natural world. Your content will assist them pre, during and post-visit, fostering ongoing engagement with the Museum and our mission. Whether you are crafting an event description, building an accessible exhibition page or writing a longform feature article, you'll always have our visitors front of mind. Through collaboration with stakeholder teams across the Museum, including Events, Learning and Interpretation, you'll plan, source, write, edit, commission and publish content for Museum visitors. As an advocate of user-centred design, you will regularly assess the impact of our content using analytics, insights and expertise to optimise, drive traffic and improve engagement. We employ a product approach to facilitate the agile and iterative development of digital products. The successful candidate will be a member of both the Content team and Visit product team within the Communications, Digital, Marketing and Publishing department (CDMP). The Visit product team is charged with increasing visitation and digital engagement with physical visitors through our digital channels. What you'll do Source and produce visitor-focused digital content to inspire people to visit our free galleries, paid exhibitions and events. Your content will help them plan their day and keep in touch on their return home Plan, research and write long-form content, including articles and interviews, on a range of topics inspired by our exhibitions, helping to reach and engage the widest possible audience Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including members of the Interpretation, Learning, Marketing and Visit product teams, as well as content contributors across all departments Train and support digital content contributors to follow online content guidelines and apply digital best practice Ensure that all digital content meets guidelines for web content production, including the Museum's house style, SEO best practice and World Wide Web Consortium Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Understand and champion the needs of the Museum's digital audiences alongside strategic goals. Ensure that digital content creation is informed by user research, evaluation, web statistics and trends Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the visitor user journey and digital experience as part of an agile and multidisciplinary team

Demonstrable experience of managing digital content development (including website content) for a large cultural heritage or media organisation. This should include both fast-turnaround and long-term projects that responds to user needs, and organisational objectives Editorial, journalistic or creative writing experience with a proven ability to identify and tell engaging stories across a range of formats, including written content. Outstanding English-language writing skills including the ability to produce engaging long-form content as well as clear, concise and accessible digital copy from informational source material An understanding of digital best practice, accessibility, search engine optimisation, user-centred design and experience of working in an agile team Excellent planning and project management skills, experience managing conflicting priorities while ensuring deadlines are met by yourself and others Demonstrable proficiency in the use of digital production and analysis tools including content management systems, Adobe Photoshop, and analytics The ability to work flexibly, including prioritising workloads on an ad-hoc basis to accommodate urgent tasks A diplomatic and positive attitude with a high degree of professional integrity and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with large teams and stakeholders at all levels About you Fired up by our mission and the challenge of building a loyal movement of advocates for the planet Excited to work as part of a multidisciplinary, non-hierarchical product team, alongside other producers, designers, researchers, developers and marketers working collaboratively towards the same goal Passionately curious about visitors and users, you are dedicated to improving their experience A keen writer with an eye for great stories A great champion for user needs and data-driven decision making, your enthusiasm rubs off on others.
