Full Job Description

  • You will help lead the news agenda in our region and work with other leaders to allocate resources.

  • You will lead the digital team and oversee commissioning and production of online and social media content.

  • You will line manage, develop and support team members and oversee rotas and manage HR processes.

  • You will help run the multimedia news hub, making sure our stories are joined up across all our platforms.

  • You will work with key stakeholders to make sure the best of the North West's journalism has the highest impact possible.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring our journalism meets the highest editorial standards and is legally compliant.

    Significant experience of leading a digital team.

  • Significant people leadership experience.

  • Exceptional editorial and legal judgement.

  • Experience of working collaboratively with other platforms, ideally TV & radio.

  • An understanding of the North West and its communities.

    The North West of England is an incredible area and we're looking for a brilliant, dynamic and creative Digital Editor to lead our online and social team as well as the multimedia News Hub.


  • It's an exciting senior role and you'll be working in one of the busiest and we think best news patches in the country.

    You'll understand the story led model, commissioning stories that will work across all platforms. You'll have an expertise in digital, be responsible for overseeing all content for online and social media, but also work closely with the Planning Editor to commission future digital and multiplatform stories.

    You'll help run the multimedia news hub on a day to day basis, working collaboratively with TV and radio and joining up content across all our platforms. You will ensure the quality of stories is of the highest standard and will be responsible for editorial standards - ensuring our journalism adheres to BBC guidelines at all times. You need to have extensive editorial experience, sound editorial judgment and be assertive in making decisions on matters of editorial sensitivity under pressure. People skills are essential and you must have experience of line managing, developing and leading teams.
