An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bank of England. We are looking for an experienced candidate to take on the Digital Engagement Officer role at the Bank of England Museum. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the design and delivery of dynamic and engaging content on the Museum's digital platforms. They will be responsible for interpreting the Museum's collection in new and innovative ways, to engage the widest possible audience. Due to the operational duties involved in this role the position will be based on-site at the Bank of England Museum. The Museum sits within the Bank's Communications Directorate which is responsible for managing and developing the Bank's external and internal communications. We manage the relationships with key stakeholder groups including the Media and Parliament, as well as providing a Public Enquires function. We work with a wide range of colleagues to develop and deliver the Bank's programme of outreach and education, which includes building strategic partnerships with other organisations and running the Bank's Museum. We also develop and maintain our external website and social media presence and produce the Bank's flagship publications. Department Overview The Digital Engagement Officer role sits in the Public and Stakeholder Engagement team. Our mission is to improve understanding of the Bank's role to ensure we are open and accountable. The team incorporates a number of functions: Outreach, Education, Stakeholder Relations, Public Enquiries, and the Bank of England Museum. The Bank of England Museum represents both the Bank's history and our work today. It plays a key role in helping to promote understanding of the Bank's role and the wider economy, alongside global economic history. The Museum welcomes a broad range of visitors every year and our exhibitions and events programme is crafted to provide content that reflects visitor interests and needs. Central to this work is ensuring that our exhibitions and events are accessible, engaging and relevant. The Digital Engagement Officer will be responsible for all aspects of the Museum's digital operation including website content, digital interactives and social media. This will include developing collections-based content for the museum website and online exhibitions, writing, editing and delivering social media posts (working closely with the Bank's central social media team), delivering museum audio guides and evaluating the success of online marketing campaigns. They will play a key role in helping the Museum to reach new audiences, especially in younger age groups and those outside of London. The jobholder will be part of a small team involved in the day-to-day running of the Museum. As such they will be expected to work flexibly and be willing to support other team members across a range of duties. This will include a small number of regular front-of-house shifts.,

  • Delivering digital engagement and strategies to support collections interpretation, display and other activity as relevant, including developing audio guides and online exhibitions.
  • Writing, editing and delivering social media posts across all platforms, working closely with the Bank's central social media team.
  • Developing, writing and delivering creative collections-based content on the Museum website.
  • Maintaining industry knowledge of new digital developments, social media trends and platforms and sharing information with and upskilling colleagues.
  • Using analytics data and user statistics to evaluate the success of digital campaigns and online initiatives.
  • Working across the wider Public and Stakeholder Engagement team to support development and delivery of other digital initiatives as required.
  • Working with colleagues to improve the accessibility of our digital content.

    Significant experience in planning and developing content for websites and social media in a museum or other cultural organisation.
  • Experience in developing audio guides online content for platforms like Smartify, Bloomberg Connects, Google Arts and Culture and Art UK.
  • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to write, proof and edit across a wide range of digital channels.
  • Experience of, and enthusiasm for, creating engaging digital narratives to encourage the widest possible audience engagement.
  • Experience of managing and using digital platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Experience of working with Axiell Collections, or other collections management software.
  • Experience of managing, analysing and interpreting user statistics e.g. Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and other platform data.
  • The ability to work effectively alone and on own initiative, as well as being able to work collaboratively within a team., A demonstrable interest in, and some knowledge of, the current role and history of the Bank of England.
  • Familiarity or experience of Khoros or other social media management software.
  • Experience of working with Adobe Creative Suite or other creative packages like Canva., This role will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Salary and Benefits InformationWe encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. This role offers a salary of circa £28,320-£31,860. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
