Full Job Description
The Digital Infrastructure Network Specialist role is responsible for implementing, supporting and maintaining the Trust's secure WAN and LAN network infrastructure including VoIP telecoms. In collaboration with other specialist Digital roles, this post ensures that the network infrastructure is capable of supporting and providing secure, resilient and highly available services and access to all of the applications, tools, data and services necessary for the provision of patient care at RNOH.
It is expected that the post holder will be engaged in a number of Digital Services projects, where good project management skills will be required.
The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of Cyber Security protection plans for the Trust and ensure that the Trust risk is minimised at all times. This will involve developing and managing processes and procedures for this purpose.
The Trusts Digital systems are primarily supported by three teams, with the Digital Service Desk, Digital Infrastructure and Digital Applications teams working side by side to ensure excellent customer service for all end users. All three teams work must work in partnership with each other to troubleshoot issues, and identify and implement continuous service improvement opportunities to ensure that the Trust has a reliable, robust, high performing Digital systems that meet the needs of our end users.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist technical expertise in network and network security infrastructure including telecoms
Provide specialist technical expertise for Extreme, Cisco and Mitel VoIP technologies
Provide specialist expertise in WAN and LAN technologies, ensuring highly available and diverse connectivity
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for network and network security infrastructure
Collaborate with other technical specialist to ensure best practice Cyber Security controls are in place
Ensure that there is an effective automated continual and daily monitoring systems for all network and network security infrastructure components.
Document all network and network security systems, describing their physical and logical implementation, admin accounts, security controls and all dependencies. List Trust services that each these support (to support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements).
Analyse, log and action all CareCERT and other relevant security bulletins to improve the cyber security assurance of the Trust. Ensure that there is a process for review of these controls and that reviews are scheduled and documented.
Contributes to maintaining the Infrastructure Team's Programme of Work and/or tasks list.
