Full Job Description

As Digital Support Apprentice you will maximise the effective use of digital technologies. They will help us adapt to and exploit changes in technology to meet goals and maximise efficiency. You will ensure effective use of digital office technologies, productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies, and digital information systems. You will also provide support to ensure the Council's content management system (CMS), delivered in Drupal, is setup for maximum efficiency, that the software is always up to date, showing issues and taking the necessary steps to resolve them. In this 18-month fixed-term role we can offer you a wide variety of on the job learning opportunities to develop your skills, as well as the employer supported, nationally accredited Digital Support Technician Level 3 - Applications Technician. You can access a wide range of Walsall Council's employee Learning & Development training too, understanding the breadth of the services we provide to our residents and customers is key to creating communications which can best support them. To develop this knowledge, you'll be involved in a wide range of essential business activities for the service including.

  • Support our digital engagement senior officers in requests for accessing and receiving services for web content and coach our services in how the Council's digital systems work.
  • Devise digital productivity solutions and roll them out in the organisation. Work as digital champions, training and supporting colleagues to make the best use of digital tools and diagnose problems and provide internal end-user application support.
  • Help with digital operations and digital change projects including testing of Customer Relationship Manager system enhancements and developments.

    Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they're either aged under 19 or aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship.
