Full Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic, dynamic individuals to work as a Direct Payment Specialist within the wider Adult Support Services Financial Services Team. We are looking for people with varying experience and knowledge across Social Care. Do you have the right level of transferable skills, but you have not been involved in Direct Payments before? Apply now and if you are successful, full training will be provided. Generally, direct payments are money the county council can give to vulnerable adults to buy services or equipment to meet their assessed needs. These payments are instead of having those services provided directly by the council. As a Direct Payment Specialist, you will provide expert advice on Direct Payments to eligible individuals across Gloucestershire and supporting a range of professionals to promote Direct Payments as a choice. You will help customers setting up the direct payment arrangement and you will liaise with customers, care management and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information and advice. You will contribute to the maintaining of accurate records of staff and the people who use our service, in electronic format., Our values are at the heart of everything we do and how we treat each other. They provide essential guiding principles about the way that we work and set the tone for our culture, and identify what we, as an organisation, care about. Read more about our values on our website. If you hold the same behaviours and approach, then we want to hear from you! In exchange, we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed in your role.

We are looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable in their practice, someone who is professionally curious and can maintain a high level of confidentiality. You need to be self-motivated, pragmatic, and resilient. You should have financial acumen to achieve suitable solutions within a pre-set budget and be a confident communicator. You will have the ability to travel throughout the county and carry out appointments with vulnerable adults., It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Gloucestershire County Council. Direct Payment team is a small team based at Shire Hall in Gloucester, working as part of an agile working offer (which includes working from home combined with time in the office). If you join us, you can be confident of becoming part of a welcoming, supportive, passionate, innovative and very experienced team.

Gloucestershire County Council provides the following rewards package in return for your hard work:

  • 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years' service, plus bank holidays
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Access to training and workshops so you can develop your skills
