You will be commercially minded, committed with strong values, entrusted with inclusively leading the execution of our day-to-day operational national services. You'll be key in influencing corporate service performance, ensuring delivery and outcomes meet or exceed expectations and align with the business' strategic vision and aims. You will have a strong customer-oriented mindset that is quality-focused and results-driven. You will be a strategic thinker who can translate this into tangible outcomes. You will collaborate and influence internally and externally which are key parts of this role. You'll provide outstanding leadership, fostering a culture of commerciality within the organisation and across Defra departments. You will:

  • Have a record of organisation wide delivery, managing complex stakeholder arrangements, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deliver a wide scale commercially focused service strategy, developing and implementing national services in collaboration with Defra group, ensuring that our services drive value and benefit for our colleagues.
  • Actively manage the EA Estates and Fleet asset portfolio, realising benefits and maximising return on investment.
  • Lead the customer facing national services (Contact Centre Services) and continue to drive a culture of customer focus across the organisation.
  • Lead the delivery of the EA sustainable strategy and oversight of net zero carbon.
  • Responding to incidents is central to what we do. You'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Full training will be available The team You will report to the Executive Director of STA, and form part of a welcoming and committed team of senior leaders. You will be a member of our broader community of executive managers, and our national Director's forum. You'll manage senior leaders and a diverse workforce across the UK, strong management and inclusive leadership skills are must-haves. Your own team will include Deputy Directors and a small executive office., If you are applying from the Civil Service please note that the Environment Agency is not a part of HM Civil Service and you would not be a Crown Servant in the event of being appointed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service.   • Strong experience of setting the direction and delivering commercially focused asset management and national once services (including customer contact services)
  • Developing a commercially focused asset management strategy, sustainably embedding this across the EA's Fleet and Estates portfolios, and delivering here and now value for money against EA operational and business requirements
  • Navigating delivery through others, challenging performance issues and the status quo to ensure Defra group corporate services offer fits requirements, actively manage and assure corporate services delivery
  • Creating and delivering an inclusive organisational road map for the delivery of the EA sustainable strategy including oversight of net zero carbon, establishing credible data reporting and organisational oversight and monitoring.
  • Leading the organisations business continuity, security and associated risks within that.
  • A strong understanding of effective crisis management and the willingness to learn how to manage national or large-scale incidents and emergencies.
