Discover Impactful Work The Director, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG), will support the Biosciences Division (BID), the Genetic Science Division (GSD) and the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division (CSD) as a single point of contact within the EHS function. This role reports to the EHS Center of Excellence (CoE) which is part of the LSG Global Operations team. The Director of EHS, LSG will have oversight of all EHS programs and initiatives at the group and divisional level and must possess deep product and process knowledge. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving the connection between site level leadership teams and the CoE. This leader will build a functional talent strategy, develop training and standard processes and provide mentorship to the Operations leaders throughout the network.,

  • Provide strategic direction and functional support to ensure safe practices and regulatory compliance across LSG sites globally
  • Build a global talent strategy that provides career growth and development and creates a strong talent pipeline
  • Provide oversight and technical expertise to support licensing, permitting, or other environmental, health or safety requirements and takes appropriate action to ensure that any non-compliance issues are resolved
  • Develop group and division level employee health and safety training programs
  • Be a PPI champion for the function and incorporate PPI methodology and continuous improvement into the LSG EHS vision and strategy
  • Engage with the site Operations and EHS teams across LSG through a cadence of site visits, annual assessments/audits as needed
  • Understand and analyze all key EHS metrics and trends and establish targets and goals aimed at improving employee safety, reducing days away from work and reducing costs
  • Ensure manufacturing facilities are consistently prepared for internal / external audits by regulatory agencies, satisfy all rules, requirements, and performance standards, and maintain relevant certifications and licenses
  • Assist sites in complex investigations related to workplace injury/illness or other significant EHS incidents
  • Build a global network across the group for all EHS professionals to collaborate, develop and share best practices

    Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc/ B.A.) in a Life/Physical Science, Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Risk Management
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience
  • Previous experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety or related function, that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10+ years).
  • 5+ years of leadership responsibility
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of regional, state and federal safety, health and environmental regulations, including radiation and biosafety
  • Professional safety and/or environmental certifications preferred (CSP, OHST, CHMM, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead as an SME and influence through functional/matrixed leadership
  • Knowledge of ergonomics, ergonomic evaluations and risk reduction
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to provide effective training
  • Strategic problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced level of English, Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
  • May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents, typically found in healthcare or laboratory environments.
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
